Following are resources to help you safely repair or rehabilitate your home.  A good way to reduce your energy bills is to weatherize but even if you still find it difficult to pay your energy bills, you may qualify for assistance.  You’ll find resources sponsored by the City of Detroit, DTE and WARM.

The City of Detroit Minor Home Repair Program provides minor housing rehabilitation repairs to help preserve the neighborhoods of the City of Detroit. The Program is designed to correct health and safety conditions in residential properties owned by low-income homeowners.  Financial assistance is available through a one-time only grant/forgivable loan at no cost to homeowners up to $15,000 per property or a maximum of $24,950, if lead-based paint hazards exist.

Assistance with Energy and Tax Bill Payments

DTE offers several programs to assist customers with paying their energy bills.  Please contact 800.477.4747 BEFORE your service is subject to shutoff.   DTE will work with you to set up a payment plan or advise you of assistance agencies in your area.
